Winter Swimming Championship in Liepāja

  • 13:40 – 14:40 3nd heat – 50 m freestyle, starting with the oldest women’s group
  • 14:50 – 15:10 7th heat – relay 4x25m, starting with S2 group
  • 15.20 – 15.40 4rd heat – 100 m breaststroke, starting with the oldest women’s group
  • 15:40 – 16:00 5th heat – 200 m freestyle, starting with the oldest women’s group
  • 16:00 – 16:40 6th heat – 450 m freestyle, starting with the oldest women’s group
  • 8th heat – „Young Seals”- dipping in cold water – will be happening at the same time as the other competitions, individually in a specially arranged spot.
  • 17.00 Award ceremony. After the award ceremony, a bicycle and TALLINK cruise will be awarded to one of the participants of the paid races (participants must be present).
  • 19.00 Banquet for the participants at Europa City Amrita Hotel, 7/9 Rīgas Street, Liepaja.

Awards

1st to 3rd place winners in each distance and age group will receive diplomas, medals and awards.

The fastest participant in the overall standings 25m breaststroke and 50m freestyle distances (women and men individually) will receive a money prize of 50 EUR.

Banquet

Banquet for the participants at Europa City Amrita Hotel, 7/9 Rīgas Street, Liepaja. Arrival from 19:00. Entrance fee 20 euro (included welcome drink, dinner, live music)

Distances

Championship consists of 9 heats:

• 1st heat (LCH DIST). 25 m breaststroke with a time control for 13 age groups (A1-J2), separate for women and men;
• 2nd heat (LCH DIST). 25m Ice-butterfly with time control in 13 age groups (A1-J2), separate for women and men;
• 3nd heat (LCH DIST). 50 m freestyle with a time control for 13 age groups (A1-J2), separate for women and men;
• 4th heat (LCH DIST). 100 m breaststroke for 13 age groups (A1-J2), separate for women and men;
• 5th heat. 200 m freestyle for 9 age groups (B-J), separate for women and men;
• 6th heat (LCH DIST). 450 m freestyle for 9 age groups (B-J), separate for women and men;
• 7th Clubs Relay 4 x 25 m, age groups S1 (under 150), S2 (151+);
• 8th heat. “Young Seals” – dipping in cold water;
• 9th heat. “Seals” – swimming up to 50 m with no time control.

Participants

This is an international championship, attended by swimmers from any country.

The championship is open for 200 participants; reaching the maximum number, the registration may be stopped.

Only registered participants can participate in the competition.

Participants under the age of 18 years, require the presence of a parent, guardian or authorized person, who must be present during both registration and competition.

Participants are divided in the following age groups, according to their year of birth and age for December 31, 2019:

In order to register online:

• Fill in the application form on veloronis.lv website;
• Transfer the participation fee to the organizer's current account with the following information:

Payment purpose: Name, surname of the participant, distance/-s.

When applying online, the participant shall also undertake to present a personal identification document at the time of registration on January 24 / 25, and with his/her signature in the list of participants certify:

• their consent to the Regulation;
• the correspondence of their state of health to swimming in ice water (0 +5 C);
• personal responsibility for their state of health during the race.

On-site Registration

Preliminary on-site registration and payment of the participation fee on January 24, from 17.00 to 20.00 at Līva Hotel, 11 Liela Street, Liepaja.

On the day of competition, January 25, on-site registration and payment of the participation fee from 10.00 to 11.00 at Liepaja winter swimming spot, Beberlini, 2/6 Lībiešu Street, Liepaja.

When registering on-site, the participant:

• undertakes to present a personal identification document;
• fills in the application form for the competition*;
• pays the participation fee in cash.

When filling the application form, with his/her signature, the participant certifies:

• his/her consent to the Regulation;
• the correspondence of their state of health to swimming in ice water (0 +5 C);
• personal responsibility for their state of health during the race.

* Application form for participants under the age of 18 must be signed by a parent, guardian or authorized person.

Participation fee

The participation fee depends on the date of payment, not the date of application. If the fee has not been paid until the day of competition, the participant must pay the full price!

Participation fee is not refunded to participants who do not compete, or if the event is cancelled due to force majeure.

• sauna, hot tub, tea, soup;
• startup kit;
• prepared pool for the race (5 lines);
• supervision of professional life-guards;
• medical assistance at the competition site;
• storage room during the competition;
• prizes from sponsors and supporters;
• professional photographers during the competition;
• certificate for attending the XVI Latvian Open Winter Swimming Championship;
• Diplomas and medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each distance and group.
